Teacher Recruitment Announcement

I. Number of Teaching Positions and Proposed Appointment Date:
1 position for Project Assistant Professor or higher; Initial appointment period is 1 year. If appointed mid-academic year, the appointment will take effect from February 1, 2025, until July 31 of that academic year, based on the actual start date.

II. Positive and Negative Qualifications:

  1. Positive Qualifications
    (A) Essential Conditions:
  1. For applicants for Project Assistant Professor or higher, they must meet one of the qualifications specified in Articles 16-1 to 18 of the Act Governing the Appointment of Educators; full-time teachers should meet the qualifications under Article 25 of the Technical and Vocational Education Act, which states that "Teachers of vocational subjects and technical subjects at technical and vocational education institutions shall have had at least one year of actual practical work experience in an industry sector related to the subject area in which they are appointed to teach. However, this restriction does not apply to those who were already appointed and working as a fulltime qualified teacher when this Act came into effect on January 14, 2015"
  2. For applicants for Project Assistant Professors or higher technical personnel, they must meet one of the qualifications outlined in Articles 4 to 6 of the Employment Regulations for Professional Technicians Teaching at Universities; have at least 9 years of supervisory/sub-supervisory experience in professional work related to the department's subject.
  3. Applicants for Project Assistant Professor or higher must hold a doctoral degree from a domestic or foreign university in fields related to tourism, leisure management, or activity guidance, and possess extensive experience in statistical analysis.
  4. Recognition of practical work experience must comply with the standards set forth in Article 4 of the "Standards for Recognizing Practical Work Experience for Teachers of Professional or Technical Subjects."
  5. Teacher qualification review and proposed appointment levels must meet the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education and the university, and are subject to the "Qualification Review Guidelines for Newly Hired Full-Time (Project) Teachers of the College of Tourism."   1. Reference Conditions:

1. Experience leading or participating in research projects sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Science Council, or other public/private institutions in the past five years is preferred.

2. Possession of evidence of individual research capabilities, such as publications in internationally recognized management journals in the past five years, is preferred.

3. One of the applicant's bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degrees should be relevant to the department's professional field.

4. Proficiency in teaching in English is preferred.

(A) Negative Qualifications (Individuals who do not meet these conditions are legally restricted from employment; please self-disclose, and the university will verify):

    1. Relatives within three degrees of kinship or marriage of the university president and the head of the proposed appointment unit.
    2. No circumstances that would prevent employment under Article 31 of the Standards for Recognizing Practical Work Experience for Teachers of Professional or Technical Subjects and Article 14 of the Teachers’ Act.

III. Required Documents:

(A)Teacher information form, applicant's understanding of the university and self-expectations, application declaration and commitment letter, self-check form for application qualifications, basic data roster for teacher recruitment, personal data collection notice and consent form (please download from the university website/administrative units/personnel office/forms).

(B)Copy of graduation certificate (for foreign degrees, verification must be completed by our overseas offices or local governmental authority and include a Chinese translation; please provide transcripts and other relevant supporting documents required by the graduated institution, travel records, etc. Exemptions apply to foreigners or overseas Chinese); verification can be replaced for schools listed in the reference directory; applicants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau should follow relevant regulations.

(C)Copy of teaching certificate (not required if not applicable).

(D)Copies of experience, expertise, certifications, proof of practical work experience, and other supporting documents (domestic experience must include labor insurance records; foreign documents must be verified by overseas offices and include Chinese translations).

(F)Must include teaching syllabi in Chinese and English related to "Activity Guidance," "Leisure Activity Planning and Design," "Service Management," and relevant professional courses (including course names and 18-week teaching outlines) for a total of three courses.

(G)Supporting documents for meeting essential and reference qualifications.

IV. Work Content:

    (A)Responsibilities include teaching, research, service, and guidance (mentoring students' learning, research, grading assignments and exams, assessing student conduct, supporting departmental administrative duties, guiding students to obtain certifications, participating in competitions, executing industry-academia collaboration projects, and assisting in community service learning).

    (B)Required to participate in internal development training activities and comply with administrative tasks assigned by the university's leadership for three years.

    (C)Additionally, in line with the Ministry of Education's bilingual national policy and the university's medium- to long-term plan to promote a bilingual university, the appointee should participate in English-taught training seminars and certification courses (EMI) organized by the university during the semester of appointment, and encourage offering professional courses in English in the following semester.

   V. Application Deadline and Submission Method:

Application deadline: By October 29, 2024 (based on the date of the email sent).
Application submission method:

  1. Please send the relevant application documents and required materials as a PDF file via email to the university's Personnel Office (personnel@mail.nkuht.edu.tw) and a copy to the hiring unit's assistant (cassiehsu@mail.nkuht.edu.tw). Please indicate "Application for Project Teacher in the Leisure Department" in the email subject.
  2. The teacher information form, application declaration and commitment letter, self-check form for application qualifications, personal data collection notice and consent form must still be signed and presented as PDF files; the basic data roster for teacher recruitment should be provided in Word or ODT format for editing by the hiring unit.
  3. Combine the "Supporting Documents for Essential Qualifications" and "Required Documents" into a single file and provide a table of contents with page numbers (if presenting multiple files, please label clearly in the file names); any supplementary materials not required should be presented in a separate file. Application materials should be submitted in one email; if all attachments cannot fit in one email, upload to the cloud and provide a download link to avoid issues with multiple emails.

VI. Announcement of Selection Results and Other Important Notes:

Selection results are expected to be announced starting January 31, 2025, via email or phone/SMS by the hiring unit. Formal employment is subject to external review results and decisions by the university's academic evaluation committee.

Note:

The university's teacher recruitment process includes trial teaching (including foreign language instruction), interviews, and presentations of teaching and research philosophies, with participation from various levels of the university's evaluation committees, and recorded for assessment purposes.
