We invite applications for a contractual faculty position at the rank of Lecturer or higher, within the field of Culinary Arts. ICA is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in areas such as Global Specialty Cuisine, Nutritional Food Cookery, Asian Cookery, Practical Banquet Planning, Chinese Cookery, and the Study of Ingredients. The position commences on August 1st, 2024, with an initial appointment duration of one year. Based on satisfactory performance, there is a strong potential for contract extension.

Job Description:

You will be responsible for teaching, conducting research, providing professional or administrative service, and performing counseling duties. Furthermore, in alignment with the Ministry of Education's bilingual national policy and the university's objectives to foster a bilingual environment, the appointed faculty member will be expected to participate in the university's English language teaching training seminars and certification courses (EMI) in their initial semester.

Qualifications:

  1. Project faculty members must comply with Article 25 of the Technical and Vocational Education Law, which stipulates that 'teachers must have at least one year of practical work experience in a field related to their teaching discipline.' The recognition of practical work experience must comply with one of the following situations:
    1. Working in government institutions, administrative legal persons, public enterprises, private institutions, legally established or registered corporations or organizations, and providing service certificates or insurance data.
    2. Working in industry-academia collaboration institutions or implementing industry- academia collaboration projects, and providing relevant project contracts or results.
    3. Working in other units with job content similar to the teaching field, and providing service certificates or specific achievement proofs.
  2. Must have a master degree in Culinary Arts.
  3. Having the ability to teach in English.

Preferred Conditions

  1. Having been a principal investigator or a participant in research projects sponsored by the National Science and Technology Council, Taiwan or other public/private institutions in the past five years is preferred.
  2. Experience in supervising post-graduate students and teaching at the post-graduate level is preferred.

    1. Photocopies of your diploma. If the degree was not obtained in Taiwan, it requires authentication by our overseas office or the relevant authority of your country, and must include a Chinese translation. Additionally, please include yearly transcripts and any other requisite degree verification documents.
    2. Photocopy of the teacher's certificate issued by Ministry of Education, Taiwan (exemption if not available).
    3. Proof of experience, expertise, certification, industry practical work experience (excluding experience in teaching in short-term cram schools or schools at all levels) and other document photocopies (experience in Taiwan must be accompanied by labor insurance records; foreign documents must be completed with overseas office verification and accompanied by Chinese translations).
    4. Provide Asian Cookery syllabus and teaching philosophy.
    5. Please provide a self-assessment form for point calculation relevant to newly appointed full-time (project-based) teachers from our International College. Duty:

The responsibilities include teaching, research, service, and counseling (guiding students in learning, conducting research, grading assignments and exams, assessing student conduct, and other teaching and administrative service duties). There is an obligation to actively participate in on-campus development and training activities and to cooperate with the administrative work of the school as needed. Administrative tasks may be assigned for a period of three years as deemed necessary by the authorities. Additionally, in alignment with the Ministry of Education's bilingual national policy and the school's medium- to long-term plans for promoting bilingual education, there is an expectation to participate in the school's organized training seminars and certification courses (English as a Medium of Instruction, EMI) during the contracted semester. Furthermore, there is encouragement to offer professional courses taught entirely in English in alternate semesters.

  1. The review process encompasses demo teaching (including English instruction), interviews, and presentation of teaching and research philosophies. Evaluations are performed by a university-wide faculty committee and supported by audio-visual recordings. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted for further reviews; ensure your application includes reachable email and phone contact details.

  3. The faculty recruitment process at our school includes teaching demonstrations (including foreign language instruction), interviews, and presentations on teaching and research philosophies. We invite members from various levels of the internal teaching evaluation committee to participate, and video and audio recordings are utilized as evaluation references.
